DoorSpace is the first employee Relationship Management system in healthcare. The company helps healthcare providers credential recruits faster and reduce claim denials from expired or missing documentation. By connecting data silos within healthcare organizations, DoorSpace lowers costs and unlocks predictive analytics — consolidating personnel data across applicant tracking, credentialing, continuing education, and compliance to improve retention and development.

The challenge

Healthcare staffing providers rely on outdated methods for gathering and maintaining employee documents — tedious, time-consuming processes that frustrate clinicians and employers. These manual, expensive workflows create fragmented employee experiences with inaccurate, siloed, unusable data, driving higher turnover and lower-quality patient outcomes.

Before Rootstrap, DoorSpace worked with a vendor whose results fell short. Seeking a collaborative partner who could provide product strategy and vision, DoorSpace chose Rootstrap for its health-tech experience and user-centered design. The engagement began with one developer and a QA resource and expanded as the work advanced, positioning Rootstrap as a strategic partner.

A portal for organizations, physicians, and nurses

Rootstrap rebuilt the portal connecting current and prospective employees to their employers. It stores and transfers medical credentials and certificates, lets organizations request documentation and manage expiration dates, and assists hiring by ensuring candidates provide accurate records.

Continuous education

US healthcare professionals must complete continuing education to stay current and keep their licenses. Rootstrap rebuilt the portal so doctors and nurses can complete coursework and track progress, with protocols tailored to each state's requirements.

AI-powered text extraction

Rootstrap implemented a module using AWS Textract — AI-powered OCR — to extract and process information from uploaded documents and eliminate manual data entry. It reads driver's licenses, credentials, diplomas, and other documents (including handwritten text) and auto-populates the matching DoorSpace form fields with high confidence.

Users and administrators can see confidence indicators and manually validate accuracy. The functionality works on web and mobile, with comprehensive QA and regression testing before deployment.
