After months of much deserved hype, this year’s Geekie Awards were officially held over the weekend, and the Neon Roots team was well represented at the highly-acclaimed, nerdtastic event. CEO and co-founder, Ben Lee, evangelist and strategist, Soam Lall, and product designer, Napoleon Martinez, were all there at Club Nokia in downtown LA to walk the red carpet and celebrate our nomination for best Website/Blog.
The Geekie Awards® is an annual award show and event By Geeks For Geeks™ that intermixes a live ceremony with custom created geek-genre digital content to create an event that combines Hollywood pizazz with the fun of a comic or tech convention. Live streaming, the red carpet, celebrity attendance and social media bring an international audience.
Hosted by Andrew Bowen, actor and voice over megastar, the event had a slew of nostalgic guests like Bill and Ted’s Alex Winter, Hook’s Dante Basco (RU-FI-O!!!), Ghostbuster’s Ernie Hudson, and Guest of Honor and recipient of the Pioneer Geek Award, Kevin Smith, among many, many others.
Below you’ll find a recap of the red carpet event hosted by Madison Mills from Digital Production BuZZ. If you jump to 06:45, you can check out Ben and crew talking about our nomination for Neon Roots 3.0 and what the future holds for NR.
A big congratulations to the entire Neon Roots team for this amazing recognition and successful launch of our new site as well as to all those that were also nominated. Geeks unite!
